At Work Life Wellness, our Physician Companion service is designed to support physicians and patients by reducing delays and administrative barriers in the diagnosis and management of obstructive sleep apnea.

Our Physician Companion pathway removes the biggest barriers to getting help—time, access, and clarity. Instead of navigating referrals, hospital waitlists, and confusing next steps, you get:
After HSAT testing, referral options include:
✔ Return-to-PCP management
✔ WLW Physician Companion pathway (with referral)
The Physician Companion pathway provides a structured, streamlined model for sleep apnea diagnosis and treatment. We aim to bridge common gaps in access by coordinating testing, interpretation, treatment initiation, and follow-up within a clear and efficient framework.
Referrals to the Physician Companion program may be made by:
• Family physicians
• Nurse practitioners
• Sleep physicians
Once referred, WLW manages patient logistics, facilitates timely diagnostic testing where appropriate, and ensures continuity of care through physician-led interpretation and management.
Our objective is to complement primary care — not replace it — by providing an integrated pathway that supports timely, evidence-based sleep apnea management while minimizing administrative burden for referring providers.
Here’s how it works:
Step 1 – Referral received (Standalone HSAT or HSAT plus Physician Companion)
Step 2 – Patient screened for appropriateness by WLW patient coordinator.
Step 3 – HSAT device provided
Step 4 – Study interpreted by certified sleep physician at WLW
Step 5 – Clear report returned to referring physician
After diagnosis, options include:
✔ Return-to-PCP management
✔ WLW Physician Companion pathway for treatment and management of Sleep apnea.
While the WatchPAT ONE Home Sleep Apnea Test provides an official diagnosis of sleep apnea and supports faster access to care, it does not meet the requirements for the provincial CPAP rebate under ADP guidelines. For patients who wish to proceed without the ADP pathway at WLW, we have partnered with Medigas to offer non-ADP CPAP equipment through Work Life Wellness for $1,000, which includes the CPAP machine, mask, and heated hose.
Important Note for Ontario Patients
To access the Ontario ADP rebate of $415.50 (75% of the ADP-approved price of $554) for a prescribed CPAP machine, a Level 1 sleep study completed in a qualified sleep laboratory is required. Work Life Wellness does not complete Level 1 sleep studies or provide a qualified sleep lab.
