Home Sleep Apnea Testing Disclaimer

You are being offered the WatchPAT One home sleep apnea test through WLW. This device is a disposable, FDA-approved home sleep testing tool used to help identify sleep-disordered breathing, such as sleep apnea. This device is not funded by OHIP and is at cost to the client. The information gathered will be used by your physician to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning.

If any of the conditions below apply to you, this test may not be appropriate. Please consult with your prescribing physician before proceeding with HSAT testing:

  •  A permanent pacemaker
  • Under the age of 12, less than 65lbs
  •  Paediatric patient (12-17) with severe comorbidities such as Down syndrome, neuromuscular disease, underlying lung disease or obesity hypoventilation
  • Sustained arrhythmias
  • Injury or deformities to sensor sites (finger, wrist or chest)
  • Use opioids
  • Do not have a cell phone or internet access

Risks and Limitations

  • WatchPAT One is not a treatment device; it is for diagnostic purposes only.
  • While the test is accurate, no test is perfect. Further testing may be required.
  • Discomfort, skin irritation, or disturbed sleep may occur in rare cases.
  • Device requires a smartphone with Bluetooth and internet and ability to download the WatchPat One App to complete testing.
  • I understand that WLW provides access to the WatchPAT One device and administrative support (device setup, payment processing, and troubleshooting). WLW does not review, interpret, or provide medical advice regarding my results.
  • I acknowledge that my physician is solely responsible for reviewing the study, interpreting the results, making a diagnosis, and providing any follow-up treatment recommendations. WLW assumes no liability for medical interpretation or clinical outcomes.

The client is responsible for the following:

  1. Download the WatchPat One App, have a smart phone with Wi-Fi or data, turn off household Alexa/Google, smartwatches and Bluetooth.
  2. Sleep in a quiet room, ideally alone as the watch records snoring (and ensure partners don't have their phone in the room).
  3. Remove jewelry, nail polish/artificial nails from the test finger.
  4. Trim the fingernail on the test finger and chest hair where the sensor will be placed.

Important Note for Ontario Patients

Home Sleep Apnea Testing (HSAT) does not qualify for the Ontario ADP rebate. However, we have partnered with Medigas to offer preferred, reduced pricing on CPAP equipment for our patients.

To be eligible for the Ontario ADP rebate of $415.50 (75% of the ADP-approved price of $554), a Level 1 sleep study must be completed in a qualified sleep laboratory and a CPAP prescription issued based on those results.

Work Life Wellness does not provide Level 1 sleep studies and is not a qualified sleep laboratory for ADP purposes. Our services focus on streamlined testing, physician interpretation, and access to preferred pricing options outside of the ADP pathway.
